3 Tips on Staying in Shape for Dance

If you’re a dancer, you understand how difficult it can be to start dancing when you’re not warmed up or haven’t danced in a little while. Here are three great tips for staying in shape so you can improve your dancing skills and feel great at the same time.

1. Have a morning routine

Many professionals who exercise consistently have some sort of workout routine every morning after waking up. Depending on the amount of time you have in the mornings, you can tweak what you specifically will do. A good starting point is a combination of three workouts: (again, your specific workout is completely up to you), however if you don’t have a plan, start with crunches, push-ups, and triceps dips. Do however many of those you can every day, and then after one week, increase your reps by 10 for each exercise. By the end of the month, you’ll have an excellent routine that gets you invigorated in the morning and keeps you in shape. It may even replace that morning cup of coffee in its rejuvenation abilities!

2. Stretch daily

Whether you worked out or not during the day, stretching is always important. Of course, most people stretch before a workout or strenuous physical activity, but just stretching before bed can loosen you up and keep your blood flowing healthily. According to FitDay, not only does stretching improve your general mobility and muscle health, but it also has linked effects to general posture! Of course, both of these are extremely important for dancers, so remember to stretch as much as possible!

3. Copy the Pro’s

Professional dancers are professionals for a reason: they work extremely hard at it. And because they succeeded, they must be doing something right! Therefore, check out what they do personally on Shape’s article or Glamour’s article! Feel free to do your own research and create the perfect workout routine for yourself.
